For a second straight year, Cunningham Children’s Home is excited to collaborate with University of Illinois students from the Department of Recreation, Sport, and Tourism to make an impact with the popular event: Illini Get Pickled Charity Pickleball Tournament, March 29-30 at Huff Hall at the University of Illinois.

Thanks to presenting sponsor The Specialized Marketing Group Inc. (TSMGI) whose support will cover event expenses, all proceeds from team registrations go directly to helping Cunningham youth and families.

Registration is $75 per team and includes an Illini Get Pickled! Tournament T-Shirt and coupon for a free Jimmy John’s pickle for each participant. Both novice and experienced pickleball players are invited to participate and can sign up a team at https://secure.qgiv.com/for/picbal/. Pickleball paddles will be provided by DICK’S Sporting Goods or you can bring your own.

Winners from the Recreation Division and Competitive Division will each walk away with Jimmy John’s Pickle Buckets, Swag Bags, Pickleball Paddle Sets and other prizes.

The tournament will be played at Huff Hall on the University of Illinois campus and will feature recreational and competitive divisions, open to both students and community members. Teams can consist of 2-3 players, with the third player considered as a substitute.

Organized by University of Illinois students, the Illini Get Pickled! event aims to unite both campus and Champaign-Urbana community members for a fun and meaningful cause. Last year’s event raised over $4,000 for Cunningham. Tournament organizers have a goal this year to have 100 teams participate and raise $10,000. Proceeds from this unique pickleball tournament will help bring hope and healing to Cunningham youth and families facing difficult life circumstances.
