While we are sometimes fundraising to update spaces, for suitable furniture or special initiatives, many of our most urgent needs are the everyday expenses that help children and families feel safe, supported and cared for. State reimbursement helps, but it does not fully cover the cost of providing the quality care and services our youth deserve. That’s where generous donors come in.
What do we mean by daily needs?
At Cunningham, kids’ daily needs are about more than meals, clothes and a place to sleep. Our youth need a safe and steady environment, clear routines and trusted adults who care for them each day. They also need access to school, counseling and support that help them manage emotions and behaviors. Donations as well as proceeds from our events help enhance education, fund therapeutic support and provide necessary resources that help the 953 youth and families we serve heal and thrive.
How does $100 make a difference at Cunningham?
- Residential Programs: $100 helps cover the cost of art, music, and recreational therapy that allows kids to express themselves and heal.
- Special Education Programs: $100 helps provide sensory sets for classrooms, supporting learning, focus, and emotional regulation.
- Community Services Programs: $100 covers a “startup kit” for young adults transitioning to independent living—items like pots, pans, silverware, cleaning supplies, lamps, towels, and other household essentials that help turn a first apartment into a home.
No matter the size or purpose, your gift helps meet real needs and brings comfort, stability and hope to those we serve.
